At Americans for Prosperity, we believe that individuals can transform their communities for the better—it just takes one small step to achieve these accomplishments.

By taking the first step to run for public office, our State Treasurer, Stacy Garrity, has transformed Pennsylvania for the better.

When Stacy Garrity took office as Pennsylvania’s 78th Treasurer in January of 2021, she walked into one of the largest financial institutions in the Commonwealth. The Treasury touches nearly every Pennsylvanian’s life, handling billions of dollars in assets, programs, and savings accounts. Garrity came in with a simple promise: transparency, accountability, and service—and she has kept that promise to the people of Pennsylvania.

One of her signature achievements has been the aggressive return of unclaimed property. These are forgotten savings accounts, uncashed paychecks, safe deposit contents, and more—funds that rightfully belong to the people of Pennsylvania. Under Garrity’s leadership, billions have been returned, including over $500 million in her first two years alone. To make the process faster and fairer, she launched the Money Match program, which automatically returns property up to a certain threshold without any paperwork. That means everyday Pennsylvanians—retirees, small business owners, even local charities—get their money back without having to jump through bureaucratic hoops.

She’s also taken steps to make the Treasury more transparent. She’s expanded online tools, allowing citizens to track spending and see exactly where taxpayer dollars are going. She’s cut fees wherever possible, proving that fiscal responsibility can coexist with strong public service.

Her stewardship of the Rainy Day Fund has been another milestone. Pennsylvania now has its largest reserve in history, with more than $7 billion set aside to cushion the state in times of economic downturn. Treasurer Garrity worked with the General Assembly to ensure these deposits were protected and invested wisely. Her new investment strategies are projected to generate tens of millions in additional earnings for taxpayers each year—without raising taxes or increasing debt.

For families, she has strengthened critical savings programs. The PA 529 College and Career Savings Plan now enjoys back-to-back Morningstar Gold ratings, placing it among the best in the nation. More families than ever are saving for their children’s education with confidence that their money is secure and growing.

Treasurer Garry hasn’t just focused on numbers; she’s focused on people. She has traveled the state to host “Treasury on the Road” events, bringing services directly to communities, from big cities to small towns. These events connect residents with their unclaimed property, savings tools, and financial education—all part of her mission to make government more accessible and accountable.

Through it all, Garrity has proven that the Pennsylvania Treasury can be more than a bureaucracy. It can be a tool for empowerment, for accountability, and for safeguarding the financial future of the Commonwealth. From billions returned in unclaimed property, to the strongest Rainy Day Fund in state history, to nationally recognized savings programs for families and people with disabilities, her record stands as one of tangible results.

In the office where numbers matter most, Stacy Garrity has made every dollar count. In a commonwealth where taxpayers are fleeing to greener pastures because of Harrisburg Democrats’ spending spree, it’s important to highlight those in elected office who are stewarding your hard-earned dollars. Thank you, Treasurer.
